Delivering Holiday Cheer

While most families are preparing for the holidays, many adolescents and young adult cancer patients are receiving cancer treatment. On November 21st, our Rutledge Foundation elves: Brenda Lammers, Nicole Burns and NCL moms, delivered oversized holiday stockings to patients at Cook Children’s Medical Center, Baylor Scott & White All Saints AYA Unit, John Peter Smith, Moncrief Cancer Institute, Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center, Simmon’s Cancer Care at UT Southwestern and Texas Children’s.

The stockings were carefully sewn by National Charity League volunteers and filled with various items such as gift cards, headphones, smart device power banks, Bluetooth speakers, stainless steel cups/water bottles, hats, encouraging notes and back/scalp massagers. Thanks to our generous donors and a grant from the Thomas M., Helen McKee and John P. Ryan Foundation, so far in 2017, the Rutledge Foundation has delivered over 270 care packages with comfort items and resources for adolescent and young adult cancer patients.
